Collaborating with American music duo, The Chainsmokers, ‘Something Just Like This’ saw Coldplay venture from their usual sound into EDM. Going on to become a massive global hit, this catchy song broke YouTube’s record for most single day views of a lyric video, being streamed over 9 million times within the first 24 hours of its release in 2017!
Deriving its title from Frida Kahlo’s last painting, ‘Viva La Vida’ is full of rich imagery and symbolism through its lyrics’ historical and Christian references. Following the narrative of a king who has lost his kingdom, this karaoke song explores the complexities of power, the inevitability of change, and the search for meaning and redemption in the face of loss. Pretty light stuff, right? One of the band’s most popular hits, this track’s orchestral strings are instantly recognisable, and it's no surprise that it topped the charts - earning Coldplay their first number-one single in both the US and UK. X&Y
, Chris Martin wrote this song to comfort his grieving then-wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, after the passing of her father. Originally wanting to base the song on a church organ, he used a synthesiser that had been given to Paltrow by her father. With optimistic, poignant and compassionate lyrics, this is an anthemic karaoke ballad that remains a firm favourite.
From its CGI chimpanzees music video, to its upbeat, funky, rhythmic Guns N' Roses ‘Sweet Child O' Mine’ inspired riff, this karaoke song is more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Infectiously joyful, this danceable track was the lead single of the band’s seventh studio album,
A Head Full of Dreams

Chris Martin does - as he had to learn how to sing it back to front in order to make it look like he was singing forwards whilst walking backwards in the reverse narrative music video. Structured around a piano ballad, this song about a broken relationship and feelings of remorse is deeply emotional, and quintessentially Coldplay.
